10 Facts About Zuriel Oduwole - A Remarkable Young African Who Spoke At The UN Recently

Zuriel Oduwole, a 14 Year Old Nigerian female education advocate, recently spoke at the UN General Assembly.  Below is a link to a video report of the event.

  1. Met with 22 Presidents and Prime Ministers (including leaders of:  Jamaica, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Liberia, South Sudan, St. Vincent & the GrenadinesGuyana and Namibia).
  2. Recently addressed leaders at the UN General Assembly on Climate Change.
  3. Appeared in popular television stations including CNBC, Bloomberg TV, BBC and CNN.
  4. At age 10, she became the youngest person in the world to be featured in Forbes Magazine and a year later, the New York Business Insider named her the Most Powerful 11 year old in the world.
  5. In 2014 at age 12, her self-produced documentary film titled A Promising Africa was screened in five countries.
  6. In February 2015, Elle Magazine listed her in their annual feature of "33 Women Who Changed The World.
  7. In August 2016, Forbes featured Zuriel in its 100 Most Influential Women List (along with the Presidents of Liberia and Mauritus)
  8. New Arica Woman Magazine's '30 Under 30 also featured Zuriel.
  9. She is the global brand ambassador for Ethiopian Airlines - the airline sponsors all her African and South American travels.
  10. In October 2013, Oduwole was bestowed with an honorary ambassador title in Tanzania by Salma Kikwete, and a computer lab in one of the country's schools was named after her.
